An 800 years old Temple

Founded in 1221, Daiho’on-ji is a historic temple of the Chisan Sect of Shingon Buddhism.
Its Main Hall—the oldest surviving Buddhist hall in Kyoto and a National Treasure—still remains.
The Treasure Hall houses National Treasure Buddhist statues along with a rich collection of cultural artifacts.
The founding priest, Giku, came from a distinguished lineage known for archery.
